The pre-registration deadline is February 12, for the 15th Annual Polar Plunge and 5K Strut to be held Feb. 27. This deadline must be met to receive the requested shirt size on the day of the event. Day-of registrants will also receive shirts, however, they may not receive the requested size. The easiest and most efficient way to register and fundraise is online! CHS Murder Mystery Dinner

The Camdenton Middle and High School Choirs will host their very first murder mystery dinner at 7 p.m., Feb. 13, at the Camdenton High School. Students promise an evening of suspense, intrigue and laughter unlike you've experienced before. A team of trained actors from Starlight Music and Productions of Highlandville, Mo., will greet dinner guests. The actors will remain in character the entire evening as they present the murder mystery "Bye Bye Alumni." Eavesdrop on conversations and keep your eyes peeled, as not everyone is who or what they appear during the course of the evening. The feast will be Italian, including breadsticks, Caesar salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, and sugar snap peas. Assorted dessert bars will complete the meal. Various prizes will be awarded. The event is a fundraiser for the choirs to participate in a national level choral competition later this spring. Tickets for the dinner are $20 each and are available from any choir student or by contacting Cheri Bonacker or Trent Clayton at 346-9296 at Camdenton High School.

Adopt-the-Shoreline Cleanup Meeting

Workshops are scheduled Feb. 17 and 18 for anyone interested in participating in the Adopt-the-Shoreline program and the 2010 Annual Shoreline Beautification Cleanup at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks. The workshops will provide an opportunity for new and prospective Adopt-the-Shoreline members to learn about the program and how to conduct successful cleanups. They will also help current members prepare for spring cleanup projects and provide a forum for sharing ideas with newcomers. Four workshops have been scheduled to prepare volunteers for the 2010 spring cleanup, set for March 13 through April 18. Polar Bear Plunge and Strut

The Osage Beach Police Department is calling all Polar Bears out of hibernation for the 15th Annual Polar Plunge and 5K Strut on Feb. 27. Brave men and women from around the area will don costumes and swimwear and take "polar" dips into the Lake of the Ozarks and/or participate in the 5K Fun Run called the Polar Bear Strut. Their Reason for Freezin' . . . the athletes of Special Olympics Missouri! All proceeds from the event benefit the organization. This year�s goal is 600 Plungers, 140 Strutters and $170,000. The Strut has no age requirement while the Polar Plunge is open to anyone 10 years or older who is a fan of having a good time for a good cause. The event is hosted by the City of Osage Beach and Osage Beach Police Department and will take place at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park-Grand Glaize Beach (Plunge) and City Hall (Strut). The Strut starts at 10:00 am with Registration from 8:30 � 9:30 am at City Hall. Plunge Registration opens at Noon and the Plunge starts promptly at 2:30. No wet suits are allowed and shoes are required for the Plunge. Each participant is required to raise a minimum $75 to participate in the Polar Plunge and $50 for the Polar Bear Strut. All participants will receive a commemorative shirt and free admission to the Post Party at Tan-Tar-A Resort. Great prizes are available for participants who reach specific fundraising goals. Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Aug. 28-29. The Top Gun of timed racing will rise to the surface in the largest unsanctioned boat race in the nation. The race will run from the 32.5 to the 34.5 mile marker, just below the Hurricane Deck Bridge. Hosted by Captain Ron’s Bar & Grill on Lake Road 5-50 in Sunrise Beach (mile marker 34.5). Boats measuring at least 22 feet in length will be eligible to participate in the Shootout. Competitions will be held in more than 50 boat classes based on length, hull design, and size and number of motors. Each racer will have one mile to build up speed before being clocked by radar. The times will be recorded and measured against other competitors. As a result, each boat races against the clock, not other participants.
